Sport et Citoyenneté

The European Healthy Lifestyle alliance, with the contribution of major organisations in the field of sport, publishes a manifesto for the 2014 European elections.

The think tank Sport and CItizenship is proud to engage this collaboration and endorse those recommendations which have been forwarded to the running candidates to the European Parliament.

EU’s focus was merely on economic crisis management in past years, other priorities – public health in the first place – require Europe’s full attention in the period ahead. Obesity, a result of increasingly unhealthy behaviours – risks to become this century’s number 1 epidemic. Obesity not only threatens the lives of millions of Europeans, but also our society at large.

The European Healthy Lifestyle Alliance (EHLA) urges the EU to reverse this crisis. This is a joint effort. Each of us can take 3 simple but important Steps in the right direction: Eat well, Drink well and Move. But good intentions must be translated into Action. All parties concerned: decision-makers, health professionals, parents, schools, academics, etc. can contribute by raising awareness, education, best practice exchanges and policy coordination.

This Manifesto is about changes, lifestyle changes. Our lives are at stake. We count on your support to make Europe a healthier place. You can count on EHLA in the next 5 years: Together we can turn the tide: Eat well, Drink well, move… and ACT!
