SCORE Project Team Meeting took place in London on 30 September 2015. The project, coordinated by the European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation (ENGSO), promotes gender equality in coaching and is a European project supported by the Erasmus+ Sport Programme. Sport and Citizenship is a partner of the project. The Project Team Meeting was very crucial for the implementation of the project as the finalisation of the educational toolkit “awareness pack” was discussed, as well as the Education for Mentors. The meeting was moderated by Heidi Pekkola and Sara Massini from ENGSO.
Sarah Milner and Julie Mackintosh from sports coach UK, in charge of the toolkit work package, guided the participants through the toolkit, and work continued in working groups, providing feedback for the toolkit. The “awareness pack” will have tools for sport organisations to create a more gender equal environment and facilitate the access of women into coaching. Furthermore, there will be tools targeted to women who are interested in coaching. The content of the toolkit will be finalised in next weeks. After that SCORE will move to the core phase of the project. Training sessions in partner countries will be organised to raise awareness and educate the representatives of sport federations to use properly the toolkit. During the project team meeting the schedule for the training sessions, which will be implemented from November 2015 to July 2016, was also discussed. The national training sessions will take place in Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, Germany, Lithuania, Portugal, Sweden and UK.
The other core issue on the agenda of the meeting was the Education for Mentors. This programme will create a pool of mentors around Europe dedicated to support female coaches in their work. In the meeting the profiles of the Education for Mentors participants was discussed as well as the national commitments to create sustainable mentoring networks through the participants of the education.
