Focus Session 1: Education in Healthcare
In Brazil, the blood-borne infectious disease Hepatitis C (HCV) is one of the most prevalent public health problems, notably due to the fact that people living with HCV do not know about the disease. Given this significant challenge, Johnson & Johnson is partnering with a Brazilian NGO for an HCV awareness and detection campaign that reinforces its commitment to improving the lives of people impacted by HCV. The campaign, taking place from September 2012 to July 2013, is aligned to the position of Johnson & Johnson as healthcare sponsor of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™. During the campaign, we are visiting the 12 host cities to focus on engaging with the construction workers building the football stadiums.
Focus Session 2: Access to Healthcare
In the Emerging Markets EMEA, it is estimated that nearly 75% of people do not have adequate access to healthcare. Johnson & Johnson Medical NV aspiration is to significantly increase the number of patients we serve through greater access to healthcare for all. In the Emerging Markets EMEA, Sub-Saharan Africa not only has the greatest need for healthcare development, it is also one of the world’s fastest growing economic regions. The Johnson & Johnson Africa Empowered Strategy is about building a healthcare sector in Africa, for Africans, the result of which will be to significantly improve patient access to care.
Focus Session 3: Welness and prevention
In line with our global commitment to improving healthy literacy and reducing worldwide incidence of chronic diseases, Johnson & Johnson has released a ground-breaking new app called the Digital Health Scorecard. This novel app introduces a significant new health metric and a better way to understand your current state of health and wellness. By answering 7 simple questions about your current health measures and habits, you will receive a single number that can help you understand, on the whole, where you stand and what you can do to lessen your long term risk for developing chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer and heart disease which, according to the World Health Organisation, account for 3 out of every 5 deaths around the globe.
